Experienced ED or A&E physicians with plans to attain specialist registration in emergency medicine are invited to apply.
Working for a teaching hospital that services a population of roughly 230,000 people, the emergency medicine is considered a priority for the trust and sees major investment in both staffing and physical developments. Rated "Good" in the CQC report and "Outstanding" in their ED Leadership, the department has a strong track record of hitting the national performance targets and is well respected in the region.
The Department has an up to date Resus area and plans are in progress for a complete re-design of the rest of the department to provide a modern, purpose-built ED fit for the future. We have an award-winning Acute Medicine and Ambulatory Care unit situated right next to the ED, with very good relations between the Emergency and Acute Medicine consultants.
The existing team of 8 consultants and 15 Specialty Doctors & Registrars is friendly and dynamic and these posts are part of a planned major expansion in senior staff numbers. The aim is to consistently provide 2 Senior doctors on duty overnight (on a 1 in 8 basis), an acceptable weekend working frequency (1 in 4) and a good depth of senior cover at all other times.
This expansion will also enable the trust to ensure regular secondments to other relevant specialties for those Specialty Doctors who wish to work towards CESR. Full support for CESR applicants is offered and the trust has a good track record in developing overseas doctors through to NHS consultant positions.
Requirements for this position are:
- MRCEM or eligibility for GMC registration
- IELTS or OET
- At least 4 years experience in Emergency Medicine
- Aspirations to develop and further your career
If you are an aspiring emergency medicine doctor with plans to attain Specialist Registration via either CESR or CCT then you are urged to apply.
