Job Description

The Emergency Department offers a wide range of services to a diverse patient population. It is a Trauma Unit, with expertise in Toxicology, Simulation, medical education and leadership. They manage a co-located Urgent Care Centre and Paediatric Emergency Department.

Requirements for these positions are:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate Studies from a UK training programme or equivalent
  • Current certification of Physician Associate exam or National Commission of certification for Physicians Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Experience in either Emergency Care or Medical Care (surgery less desirable)

    Responsibilities:

    As a Clinical Scientist you will play a crucial role in Data analysis, Results reporting, Collaboration and Communication, and Quality Assurance. The successful candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, support business development activity with technical know-how, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a strong scientific background, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for advancing medical knowledge.

    Main responsibilities will include:
    • Data Analysis, Interpretation and Reporting
      • Conduct analyses of lab data to generate reports and support evidence-based decision-making for prescribing medical practitioners
      • Interpret findings, review results, and sign reports.
    • Regulatory Compliance:
      • Ensure all Laboratory activities adhere to relevant regulatory standards and guidelines
      • Prepare and submit documents to obtain accreditations and regulatory approvals for the company’s services.
    • Collaboration and Communication
      • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including investigators, clinicians, and regulatory authorities.
      • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure the successful implementation of the laboratory processes.
      • Understand the past and ongoing research conducted by the company and other similar studies elsewhere, and be able to explain the comparative evidence base to the healthcare professionals.
      • Understand the reports produced in the diagnostic lab and be able to explain the expected format to the prescribing medical practitioners.
    • Quality Assurance
      • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the integrity and accuracy of laboratory processes.
      • Assist in the implementation of ISO 15189 quality standards and practices.
      • Participate in audits and inspections as needed.
    Eligibility:
    • HCPC registration as clinical scientist
    • Postgraduate or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Medicine, Biology, Pharmacology)
    • Experience with solid tumour oncology, or genetics, or molecular, or cell culture.
    • As this role will involve customer interaction, someone comfortable interacting with clinicians and business development individuals.

    WHAT IS THE GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE? 

    The Old Age / Geriatric Psychiatry Mental Health Service provides a range of mental health services for adults across the age range within the community and in hospital settings. These are integrated health and social care services. Many services across the boroughs are now integrated because of the synergies of the two patches, with members of the senior management often having overarching responsibilities. There is a middle/second on call tier through higher trainees and first on call provision is provided by 3 resident junior doctors. 

    The post holder will provide senior clinical advice and support to the daily triage, MDT and other regular clinical team meetings, ensure that all referrals are triaged daily and responded to in a timely way, and do assessment of new patients and clinical supervision of assessments carried out by other team members. The post holder review complex needs patients to ensure appropriate care packages are put in place, have Mental Health Act related-work, and do domiciliary visits to provide assessment and treatment services as a member of the CMH.

  • Consultant in Psychiatry - General Adult Psychiatrist - Inpatient - supporting CESR

    An excellent opportunity for an experienced Specialty Doctor or Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join a mixed gender acute psychiatric ward with 18 beds in London. The post if suitable for overseas psychiatrists, including candidates who are pursuing CESR. Specialists in Psychiatry, holding a specialist certification would be suitable for this post, based on experience entering at either Specialty Doctor or Consultant grade.

    Overseas applications from experienced Specialty Doctors and Consultants are welcomed, previous experience in the inpatient sector is desirable. 

    WHAT IS THIS MENTAL HEALTH TRUST LIKE? 
    The Trust is performing at a good level across all community and inpatient services, it provides integrated mental health services in London and also provides community health services across its catchment area. They are a large provider of integrated mental health services, employing 3,359 staff with an annual income of £237 million.

    The trust serves a population of 1.2 million and operates services from five main inpatient sites and a further 25 sites in the community. Specialist services include regional forensic, eating disorders and adolescent inpatient services and a national stalking service. 

    In 2014 they were awarded 'University Affiliated’ status, which facilitates stronger working relations, including the opportunity for experienced academics and experienced clinicians within the Trust to coproduce mental health education and research projects which meet the needs of local people. This agreement enhances the current partnership between the two organisations, demonstrating a strong commitment to education, research and development.

    WHAT IS THE INPATIENT WARD & TEAM LIKE? 

    The ward is a mixed gender acute psychiatric ward with 18 beds. The ward provides assessment and treatment for patients who cannot be safely managed in the community by the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Teams. This includes a significant number of patients detained on Sections 2 and 3 of the Mental Health Act.

    The Team is a close-knit group of 30 colleagues, mostly holding substantive posts, which meet regularly in formal and informal meetings. Whilst several CPD peer groups have formed within the trust, the consultants are also encouraged to seek peer groups outside the organization as an opportunity to network and share experience with colleagues from other services. A monthly Balint-Group for consultants is facilitated by the Consultant Medical Psychotherapist and gives opportunity to conduct in-depth case based discussions (CbD) required for annual appraisals and revalidation.

    The post-holder is expected to be actively involved in all aspects of service development of the department and the wider organization. The postholder is expected to formulate treatment plans and oversee implementation and evaluation of these treatment plans and contribute to management of patient flow with a view to manage bed capacity effectively and avoid delayed transfers of care.
