Job Description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Specialist in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to join a well-established and expanding Neurodevelopmental CAMHS Team in London. This is a great NHS Consultant job for overseas candidates and UK based psychiatrists alike - CESR, Section 12 and AC will be supported and international applications are welcomed. 

WHAT IS THE NHS TRUST / HEALTH BOARD LIKE? 
This NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in these London boroughs.  They also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as a medium secure services; and nationally, such as a specialist hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder

This is an exciting time to be joining these London based Child and Adolescent Services with considerable change taking place across the region. In addition to the Neurodevelopmental Service transformation, the CAMH Service is active in a Phase 1 New Care Models Programme (focussed on improved use of Tier 4 beds and development of crisis interventions), development of Child Wellbeing Practitioners, Trailblazer for the new Mental Health Support Teams in Schools.

This NHS vacancy in CAMHS offers comprehensive Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, for children, young people and families in the 0-18 age range. It is a community based out patient service characterised by family centred and individually tailored treatment packages. There are close links with colleagues in Tier 2 CAMHS services, Acute and Community Paediatrics, Education, Social Services, Primary Care, and Adult Mental Health Services.

WHAT IS THE CAMHS NDT LIKE? 
The post-holder will join a multidisciplinary team, and will work alongside the 0.8 WTE Consultant Psychiatrists in the newly commissioned waiting list team, to support the transformation of the service, including a waiting list initiative. The team has been successful in a bid for additional funds to provide additional clinical staff and access to web-based assessment tools. This post offers specialist training in all aspects of assessment in relation to ASD, ADHD and tics disorders and there will be opportunities to run/ be part of groups in psychoeducation, do targeted pieces of therapy and offer medication clinics. There is available training to attend evidence-based specialist assessment and treatment courses for neurodevelopmental disorders.

  • Board Certified Specialist in Psychiatry

Non-EEA Candidates:

  • MRCPsych

  • Experience of working in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

UK based applicants

  • Experience of working in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Within 6 - 12 months of completing CCT
