Job Description

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist with interest in Eating Disorders to join a top performing NHS Trust in London. 

The post if suitable for overseas psychiatrists, including candidates who are pursuing CESR. Specialists in Psychiatry, holding a specialist certification would be suitable for this post, based on experience entering at either Specialty Doctor or Consultant grade.


Overseas applications from experienced Specialty Doctors and Consultants are welcomed.

WHAT IS THIS MENTAL HEALTH TRUST LIKE? 
The Trust is performing at a good level across all community and inpatient services, it provides integrated mental health services in London and also provides community health services across its catchment area. They are a large provider of integrated mental health services, employing 3,359 staff with an annual income of £237 million.

The trust serves a population of 1.2 million and operates services from five main inpatient sites and a further 25 sites in the community. Specialist services include regional forensic, eating disorders and adolescent inpatient services and a national stalking service. 

In 2014 they were awarded 'University Affiliated’ status, which facilitates stronger working relations, including the opportunity for experienced academics and experienced clinicians within the Trust to coproduce mental health education and research projects which meet the needs of local people. This agreement enhances the current partnership between the two organisations, demonstrating a strong commitment to education, research and development.

WHAT IS THE SERVICE & TEAM LIKE? 

The Team is commissioned as a regional specialist service for a population of approximately 7 million. A comprehensive range of outpatient, day patient and inpatient (in a specific ward) treatment is provided for patients with all types of eating disorders, aged 18 and above.

All the service facilities have been designed to a high standard. There are 20 acute beds on the Iris ward. The Day Unit offers a comprehensive day programme for eating disorders.

The post-holder will have shared responsibility with the existing Consultant Psychiatrists within the service for providing a comprehensive eating disorders services for the commissioning bodies. The post-holder will be jointly responsible for the assessment and medical management of patients receiving out-patient and day-patient treatment with other doctors within the service.

  • Experience of working in Eating Disorders Psychiatry

  • Board Certified Specialist in Psychiatry

Non-EEA Candidates:

  • MRCPsych

  • Experience of working in Eating Disorders Psychiatry

UK based applicants

  • Experience of working in Eating Disorders Psychiatry

  • Within 6 - 12 months of completing CCT
