Job Description

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join an established NHS general adult community mental health team in the North of London. The post if suitable for overseas psychiatrists, including candidates who are pursuing CESR. Specialists in Psychiatry, holding a specialist certification would be desirable for this post, based on experience entering at either Specialty Doctor or Consultant grade. 

Overseas applications from experienced Consultants are welcomed, experience in the community sector is desirable. 

WHAT IS THIS MENTAL HEALTH TRUST LIKE? 

The Trust is performing at a good level across all community and inpatient services, it provides integrated mental health services in London and also provides community health services across its catchment area. They are a large provider of integrated mental health services, employing 3,359 staff with an annual income of £237 million. The trust serves a population of 1.2 million and operates services from five main inpatient sites and a further 25 sites in the community. Specialist services include regional forensic, eating disorders and adolescent inpatient services and a national stalking service.  In 2014 they were awarded 'University Affiliated’ status, which facilitates stronger working relations, including the opportunity for experienced academics and experienced clinicians within the Trust to coproduce mental health education and research projects which meet the needs of local people. This agreement enhances the current partnership between the two organisations, demonstrating a strong commitment to education, research and development.

With an extremely active education/teaching programme supported by the consultant team, there is opportunity to work towards and complete CESR, RCPsych exams, get involved in active research and many aspects of CPD.  Participation in research and educational activities will be encouraged.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE?
EEA Candidates:

  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry
  • Board Certified Specialist in Psychiatry (desirable)

Non-EEA Candidates:

  • MRCPsych
  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry

UK based applicants

  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry
  • Within 12 months of completing CCT (desirable)
