Consultant Radiologist

An opportunity for experienced radiologists to secure a locum consultant job with one of the largest NHS Trusts in the North East of England. The Trust is a teaching centre for under and post graduate medical education and has a Radiology registrar training programme.

With a large and disparate catchment area encompassing coastal, rural, industrial and residential centres, this University Hospital performs the role of the Tertiary Care and Major Trauma Centre for a significant population of approximately 1.5 million.

For IMGs this trust will be a supportive and friendly environment that will foster your ambitions and career growth. CESR support is available as a fundamental part of this job plan.

The Radiology service encompasses the General and Neuroradiology departments across the trusts main hospital sites.

The combined imaging facilities consist of four 128 slice CT scanners, two 3T MRIs (one shared with Durham University) and three 1.5T scanners. Apart from the research scanner all have been replaced within the last two years. There is also an on-site PET-CT with a planned SPECT-CT, eight ultrasound rooms, four fluoroscopy rooms, a hybrid endovascular suite and dual planar Neuroradiology suite. There is Trust-wide second generation PACS with voice recognition and the option for home reporting is currently under development.

The service is nationally acknowledged as one of the top performing Imaging and Interventional services. Complex vascular stenting procedures have been performed for 14 years. The NVD data base confirms excellent mortality outcomes for endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms. The Centre has its own four bed and two recliner Day Unit with a supporting team of skilled nurses and radiographers to support patient intervention and diagnostic procedures.
