Job Description

An opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to join one of three Home Treatment Teams in the North West of England. CESR, Section 12 and AC training & development are supported in this NHS post. Situated near to Manchester, these psychiatry teams are ideal for those looking for the city life, or the peace and quiet of the countryside, and is ideal for experienced General Adult Psychiatrists looking for an NHS job in a friendly and supportive team.

Experienced Specialty Doctors or Associate Specialists will also be considered for the role, a good level of experience in General Adult Psychiatry would be essential. 

This full time (10PA), permanent post would be based at either Lancaster, Nelson or Blackburn - all within a short journey to Manchester.

This post is being offered due to the previous Consultant Psychiatrist moving into the local Perinatal Psychiatry Service.

The Trust specialises in secure, inpatient and community mental health services and covers the whole of the county, employing around 7,500 members of staff across more than 420 sites, working with a multitude of partners to provide health & wellbeing services. WHAT IS THE THE GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY HOME TREATMENT TEAM TEAM LIKE?
The Home Treatment Team (HTT) su
pports adults of working age living in the Lancaster & Morecambe community. The team has various functions including assessment, gate keeping and a home treatment function as an alternative to admission. This also includes facilitating early discharge from hospital. The main clinical duties are arranged around conducting clinics for new patients and follow up reviews. This includes patients seen by the trainees in a fully supervised clinic.

Mental health services for adults of working age in the Lancaster and Morecambe area are provided to a population of 91,000. The Home Treatment Team (HTT) supports adults of working age living in the local community.  The team has various functions including assessment, gate keeping and a home treatment function as an alternative to admission.  This also includes facilitating early discharge from hospital.

A range of other professionals with varying level of expertise support the HTT: operational managers, nurses, clinical psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, occupational therapists and administrative and secretarial staff.

The services are delivered as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) that works with individual patients. The psychological services provided are comprehensive and include a range of assessments and treatments.  The occupational therapy services provide a wide range of opportunities for patients.

The Home Treatment Team expects to receive on average 25 new referrals a week.  The team aims to see referrals for assessment on the day of the referral and gate keeping clients within one hour of the request.
