Job Description

An opportunity for an experienced General Adult Psychiatrist to join a dedicated and passionate NHS Acute Inpatient Ward in the North West of England. 
This full time post is based in 
a modern state of the art building with 154 Inpatient beds. In addition to the Acute Inpatient ward, there are specialist Dementia wards, Advanced Care wards, Male and Female Treatment Wards and a Male and Female PICU, There is also a 136 suite on site.

This NHS Trust are proud of their traditions around research, education and development of the Medical Workforce. They have within their Medical workforce, the RCPsych CESR Evaluator of the year, the RCPsych NW Trainer of the Year and the RCPsych Researcher of the Year!

They have an extremely active education/teaching programme which our Consultants enjoy supporting.

This NHS Trust specialises in secure, inpatient and community mental health services. They cover the whole of the county and employs around 7,500 members of staff across more than 420 sites, working with a multitude of partners to provide health & wellbeing services. The Trust’s vision is to provide high quality care, in the right place, at the right time, every time.

WHAT IS THE HARBOUR DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The hospital was designed with extensive input from service users and clinicians and is based on good practice guidance and 'safety by design' to ensure that it can provide high quality care. The ethos of the unit is to provide therapeutic care which is empowering, person centered and needs led, and focuses on promoting recovery and independence.

The in-patient units in the state of the art facilities consist of

  • 4 x 18 bedded adult functional wards (2 male & 2 female) There is a design solution to allow for flexibility in use of beds between the male and female wards (swing beds)
  • 2 x 18 bedded advanced care wards (1 male & 1 female)
  • 2 x 15 bedded dementia wards (1 male & 1 female)
  • 2 x 8 bedded psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) (1 male & 1 female)

The NHS Trust operates in an area that includes the Lake District National Park with World Heritage Centre status. It provides opportunities for living in beautiful places and accessing a wide range of outdoor pursuits.
There are large centres of population and also attractive market towns dotted across the counties.
State and private schools have excellent reputations with a number of secondary and primary schools having outstanding Ofsted reports, being ranked as some of the highest in the country. Housing is affordable with many areas being significantly more competitive than the rest of the UK.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE?

EEA Candidates: 

  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry, with some inpatient experience 

Non-EEA Candidates: 

  • MRCPsych
  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry, with some inpatient experience 

UK based applicants 

  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry, with some inpatient experience
