Job Description

A new opportunity for experienced Consultants in Stroke Medicine to join a teaching hospital in the North West of England. 

Job overview: 

You will contribute to the TIA Service. A modern Acute Stroke Unit was recently opened in 2017 alongside a long-established Stroke Rehabilitation Ward.

You will see patients in the Acute Stroke Unit, the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (Ward 23), the TIA Clinic, and undertake Out-Patient Clinics.

You will also be allocated time for SPA and clinical administration work.

The hospital provides an active acute thrombolysis service

You will work alongside existing consultants, and the consultant role is  well supported,  with 2 full-time, Stroke Nurse Practitioners who provide a seven day service, a full team of junior doctors (1 staff grade, 1 training ST3+ doctor, 1 IMT doctor, 1 FY2 doctor and 2 FY1 doctors) as well as skilled ward-based nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Requirements for the role: 

UK based applicants: 

  • CCT or within 6 months of CESR
  • Experienced Stroke Physicians are encouraged to apply 
  • A strong acute and general medicine background with experience of stroke 
EEA applicants: 
  • Specialisation in Stroke Medicine 
  • Experienced Stroke Physicians are encouraged to apply 
Non-EEA applicants: 
  • MRCP
  • Specialisation in Stroke Medicine 
  • Experienced Stroke Physicians are encouraged to apply
