Job Description

An opportunity for a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to join an established Inpatient Ward working in a brand new state of the art Acute Inpatient Facility. Newly opened a few years ago, following significant investment, this is one of the most modern facilities in the country. This consultant vacancy is also suitable for overseas psychiatrists, including experienced Consultants, Specialty Doctors or Associate Specialists - CESR, Section 12 and AC training & development are supported in this NHS vacancy.

International candidates are encouraged to apply - and a variety of entry points will be considered, including the new Specialty Grade for experienced candidates.

WHAT IS THE TRUST LIKE?

The Trust specialises in secure, inpatient and community mental health services and covers the whole of the county, employing around 7,500 members of staff across more than 420 sites, working with a multitude of partners to provide health & wellbeing services. WHAT IS THE THE OLD AGE PSYCHIATRY TEAM LIKE?

The Harbour is a new 154 bedded mental health hospital, with state of the art facilities, designed with extensive input from service users and clinicians and is based on good practice guidance and 'safety by design' to ensure that it can provide high quality care. The ethos of the unit is to provide therapeutic care which is empowering, person centered and needs led, and focuses on promoting recovery and independence.

The ward team is fully multidisciplinary and includes a variety of mental health professionals and the hospital has single ensuite bedrooms of varying specialisms over 10 wards, of which one is the older adult ward relating to this vacancy. 

The advanced care wards accommodate older patients who are experiencing an acute mental illness that are also physically frail or who are also experiencing physical disability or illness.

The dementia wards accommodate patients diagnosed with dementia who are requiring the relational and physical care and security that an inpatient ward can provide.
