This is a great opportunity for overseas Consultants in General Adult Psychiatry who want to establish themselves in the NHS, and grow their consultant career. The post is suitable for candidates holding specialisation in the EEA, or for experienced IMGs looking to complete CESR.
Specialty Doctors who are ambitious to complete CESR and work towards becoming a consultant will also be supported in this role.
WHAT IS THE TRUST LIKE?
The NHS Trust provides mental health, learning disability and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county. The Trust is rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care, and currently has 3,300 staff working across 33 locations, covering an area of 1,450 square miles. The NHS Trust is commissioned to provide secondary mental health services across their area, both in community and within inpatient settings.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
???The total population of the area is 100,000 with the 16-65 population of 61,000. There are two full time Consultants covering the Community Mental Health Team (this post being one of them). The Community Mental Health team comprises: (1) WTE Operational team managers, (1) WTE Service manager, (6) WTE CPNs, (6) WTE STR Workers, (1) WTE Non-medical prescriber, (4) WTE psychological therapists, and (5) WTE admin staff. There are currently no junior doctors within the team – however this can be developed with the appropriate supervision qualifications - there is a band (7) non medical prescriber.
The community mental health team accept referrals from varies agencies including General practitioners, IAPT services, secondary and tertiary agencies. The current caseload is approx. 650 with a referral rate of approximately 4-6 patients per day. Within the caseload there are currently 3 patients on a CTO and 6 patients who are on a conditionally discharged MoJ Section. Every patient has a lead healthcare professional and the post holder will provide advice/input as requested and attend the majority of CPA meetings. You will see between 15 and 20 patients a week.
The post holder will have access to dedicated admin with a ratio of 3:1, with consultants also having full access to a secretarial pool for all preparation of letters and reports etc.
WHAT IS LIFE LIKE IN THE REGION?
The area is a family-friendly county with first class state and independent schools and affordable housing. The average house price in the area is £360,000, so you get a lot of brick (and green space) for your buck compared to neighbouring regions. Two areas have been voted to be the best places to live in the country with their vibrant high streets and incredible eateries. Another two of the areas that the Trust is in are now world-class uber cool art destinations. The area has the best collection of pubs, a heritage of brewing that is continuing with microbreweries, gin distilleries and vineyards offering gold medal refreshment.
In addition to the ones mentioned above, the area also has breathtaking castles, cathedrals and country houses bursting with history plus the mighty Bluewater shopping centre and a plethora of further choices for retail activities. There is a wealth of activities to keep little ones occupied and then you have the 350 miles of beaches, cliffs and coves; a coastline that is both stunning and stimulating, whatever the weather.
