Job Description

The Cellular Pathology department in West Wales is actively recruiting histopathology consultants to join their dynamic team in a picturesque and cost-effective region. This role involves contributing to the ongoing enhancement of histopathology services within the Health Board, reflecting their commitment to providing top-notch patient care. These positions are particularly appealing to European Pathology Specialists, recently qualified UK consultants, and experienced histopathologists with FRCPath credentials who are interested in pursuing the CESR process for permanent appointments.

You will be part of a Health Board that serves a population of approximately 384,000 residents in several towns and communities. Their comprehensive healthcare services encompass Acute, Primary, Community, Mental Health, and Learning Disabilities care, easily accessible through a network of facilities, including hospitals, health centers, and various healthcare professionals. The Health Board plays a crucial role in advancing the NHS in Wales, consistently striving to provide safe and timely healthcare. Collaborations with local government and the third sector are key to improving local care services and ensuring timely and appropriate care delivery.

The Histopathology Department is an integral part of the region's healthcare services. Their team includes dedicated consultants and junior doctors who work collaboratively, leveraging state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technology to handle a diverse caseload encompassing histopathology and cytology cases. The department plays a pivotal role in diagnosing various medical conditions and treatment evaluation, ensuring patients receive accurate and timely results.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE? 

UK Applicants:

  • CCT or CESR or within six months of attaining or;
  • Previous locum consultant experience in the NHS or;
  • Significant senior middle grade experience, and CESR process under way
EU Applicants:
  • GMC recognised specialist qualification or FRCPath
  • OET or IELTS
  • Willingness to relocate within six months of appointment
Non-EEA applicants:
  • FRCPath 
  • OET or IELTS
  • Willingness to relocate within six months of appointment
