Job Description

General Medicine specialists looking to pursue a career in the NHS should apply for this exciting role in the Yorkshire region on England. Working for a medium sized district general hospital of 300-beds overseas candidates, as well as UK based, are invited to apply should they meet the qualifications and experience criteria. 

Working in Same Day Emergency Care the new appointee will be part of a team that provides 7 day emergency care between 9am to 5pm, with no on call. This will provide care for patients who arrive at hospital via ambulance and are admitted but are expected to be discharged that same day. Roughly a maximum of 20 patients per day is the expecatation though of course this is dependent on many factors. 

This is very much a position for candidates who are proactive in their patient care, and will suit those that are 'hands on' and less admin focused.

The requirements for this position are the following:
  • MRCP UK 
  • IELTS or OET
  • GMC Registration or eligibility
  • At least five years experience in General or Acute Medicine at CT level
  • UK experience is desirable but not essential

  • Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

    Respiratory consultants with aspirations to attain consultant status in the NHS via CESR or CCT are urged to apply. 

    Joining an established and settled team of 8 respiratory consultants across both sites in the trust, the department has well managed services in lung cancer, sleep, bronchiectasis and COPD. 

    Whilst any subspecialty is welcome those with asthma, ILD or cancer interests would be especially desirable.

    This hospital in the trust is concentrated on the Respiratory outpatient activity and there are established and proactive day hospitals administering omalizumab and IVIG, flush portacaths in addition to well established pathways for ambulatory care of PE and cellulitis.

    The hospital has 182 acute medical beds and Monday - Friday all admissions are assessed by the dedicated acute physicians team which allows for a steady and controlled follow of mostly respiratory patients with some general medical patients to the respiratory team.

    There is some on call with this position.

    Successful applicants will be encouraged to contribute to the teaching provision at the neighboring hospital in the trust.

    Requirements for this position are:

    • MRCP desirable not essential
    • Extensive experience in Respiratory Medicine
    • At least 3 years consultant experience, even if outside the UK
    • IELTS or OET
