A Health Board in Wales is looking to appoint four middle grade histopathologists to work in an innovative CESR Fellow posts. Appointed at the level of a specialty doctor or specialist with a view to transition into a locum consultant post after 12-months, and substantive consultant post after 24-months - this is a really unique type of opportunity and not one found across the NHS. Any IMG with FRCPath and an ambition to forge a long-term career in the UK and develop as a specialist histopathologist should apply.
Short / mid / long-term ambitions for this role.
Short-term, there is the opportunity to work within a close group of four other IMG anatomical pathologists, all holding FRCPath Histopathology. You\'ll be onboarded with a full supportive team, including one designated CESR Mentor for the Trust, a specially appointed Educational Supervisor with joint responsibility for your CESR portfolio for specialist registration. The role will be structured specifically to a) ensure you are reporting up to speed as an NHS-trained histopathologists as soon as possible and b) to provide a structured job plan with milestones that will enable quick progression through the Portfolio Pathway in Histopathology.
Mid-term you\'ll begin to form specialist interests in the common and less common anatomical areas. After two years the role may offer you the new regional hub - a centre of digitalised excellence and the jewel in the Pathology Crown of Wales.
Long-term, the potential is enormous as you\'ll be joining the region specialist network, newly built and housing a 30-35 consultant lead service for histopathology alone. Microbiology, IHC, haematology, and other lab-medicine services will be based out of this large centre of excellence. Fully digitalised and specialist reporting functions will be run from this hub, as well as major teaching and developmental functions for the region.

WHAT IS THE ONCOLOGY & DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The oncology services is run by a 14-strong consultant team, 10 other specialty doctors and a large team of doctors in training, with the Cancer Unit offers high quality clinical care for via both radiotherapy and sytemic treatments.
The Chemotherapy facility includes a state of the art Day Unit with 24 outpatient chemotherapy chairs, a 5 chair assessment bay for unwell patients, two 2 bedded siderooms, and 4 counselling/clinic rooms. Chemotherapy is prepared in a satellite pharmacy within the Unit. Treatment is provided by experienced chemotherapy nurses who are well versed in cannulation and administering chemotherapy. There are plans to move the unwell assessment area to the inpatient ward very shortly. They have 40 dedicated oncology beds at the RDH, and provision of side rooms for neutropenic patients and special requirements. The Oncology service is well supported by a well-established Haematology Service, Palliative Medicine Service including inpatient unit, Clinical Psychologists, interpreters and bereavement support staff. Radiotherapy, Brachytherapy and Radiotherapy Physics are housed together in a purpose-built centre, with the following equipment:
- 4 Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerators
- Aria Oncology management system and Eclipse treatment planning.
- HDR Brachytherapy Unit
- Xstrahl Superficial Xray therapy – 80kV & 120kV
- Toshiba wide-bore CT-simulator, with Prosoma Virtual simulation

This specialist cancer centre are looking for full-time, permanent or fixed-term Medical Oncology Consultants specialising in specialising in Sarcoma.

THE ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND TEAM:
The department is responsible for SACT services for adults with solid tumours in the region of Wales. The majority (60%) of day-case services are delivered on site, while there is a long-established network of outreach sites in LHB acute and community hospitals, and based with 3rd-sector providers.
Based on its professional and public reputation for delivering excellence in terms of patient and staff experience, the Trust has has been selected to lead the ‘Transforming Cancer Services’ programme and to build a new hospital. The new site will be a £200million pound development and will open in the coming years. It will be nearly twice the size of the current hospital and will be equipped with brand new, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities
The new site will have 10 new linear accelerators, 2 CT and 2 MRI scanners to support precision image-guided and adaptive radiotherapy. There will be a dedicated clinical trials treatment unit including a 10-bedded early phase trials unit, and 2 isotope cubicles for molecular radiotherapy treatments.

They support people with mild, moderate or severe learning disabilities who are registered with a GP, to help them live a valued life in their community. The team is made up of learning disability nurses, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and psychologists. They deliver a specialist assessment and intervention plan, which focuses on health inequalities, behaviour, risk, sensory, communication and psychological needs. They work in partnership with families and agencies to achieve positive outcomes for the patients in their home, community and other relevant settings.
The Team accepts referrals from service users, carers, social workers, GP\'s and other health professionals. All referrals will go through a screening process which checks whether you are eligible to access the service. In previous years, their colleagues have picked them as winners of the Principles of Care Awards, for their work with Down\'s Syndrome and dementia patients. The population is around 191,830 (ONS Data). At present, around 4144 people, within the borough, have a known learning disability, with the five year forecast showing this to increase to 4236 by mid-2025. Currently, the outpatient case load is around 150.
The post holder The post holder will provide psychiatric input to adults with learning disabilities of 18 years and older within the area. The post holder is expected to provide clinical leadership to the team, and provide consultation and input in Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
