WHAT IS THE HEALTH BOARD LIKE?

While this health board doesn't have a district general hospital, they have a network of community hospitals, local primary care teams, visiting consultants and specialists, social care and voluntary organisations who all work together to provide a wide range of health services in their local communities.

The health board has 9 community hospitals, and an integrated health and social care centre at Builth Wells, as well as clinics and services across the county. In 2019, the health board received the Welsh Government's Gold Corporate Health Standard award. They are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of their staff, both at work and at home. Besides providing health and wellbeing service, they also offer a range of schemes to support their staff.

The health board is committed to supporting the continued professional development of their valued workforce. They offer a wide range of in-house clinical and non-clinical training, as well as support to develop through accessing education and training through their partnerships and education providers.

WHAT IS THE AREA LIKE?

The mid-Wales county covers some 2,000 square miles, extending from the edge of Snowdonia in the North, to the Swansea Valley in the South. It is a modern and dynamic county. It has a population of 135,000. It is a vast area, but served by a network of friendly, vibrant towns, villages and rural communities. A truly great county in which to live and work, this county is often featured as being amongst the best places to live in the UK.

The county has so much to offer within its borders, yet is still very accessible to major cities around its periphery such as Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool. In addition to being accessible, the county is home to many award winning restaurants! It is also one of the safest and most inspiring parts of the country. Comfortably buy the home of your dreams and enjoy the quality of life you work so hard for.

Promising incredible beauty, magical escapism and the kind of magnetism that pulls you into every inch of its character, it’s not surprising that this county is one of the happiest places to work and live.

WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU?

The Health Board is also very active in facilitating the development of junior medical staff to ensure that the medical service of the future is highly trained and effective. There are four centres for postgraduate education with Postgraduate Organisers appointed at each centre. The central Deanery in Wales is based in Cardiff and is headed by Professor Derek Gallen, Postgraduate Dean. The Health Board enjoys a close relationship with the Postgraduate Deanery and annual visits to each centre ensure that the postgraduate education taking place across the Health Board is relevant and effective.
