Job Description

An excellent Health Board in Wales is searching for a talented Learning Disability Consultant Psychiatrist to join a team of ten Consultant Learning Disability Psychiatrists who cover different regions within the Health Board. The Learning Disability services are currently undergoing substantial modernisation efforts, aiming to become pioneers in the field. This is an exciting opportunity for the appointed candidate to actively participate in this program.

Collaborating with Community Learning Disability Teams and Assessment and Treatment Units, the Learning Disability Psychiatry department ensures the well-being and overall health of individuals with learning disabilities. Their goal is to provide additional support and innovative approaches to meet unique needs, with a focus on helping individuals stay at home whenever possible. If hospital care is required, they offer dedicated support throughout the hospital stay to ensure a safe and smooth transition back home.

As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to provide supervision and play an active role in the education and training of medical, nursing, and other staff. The Health Board values its university status and maintains strong educational partnerships, providing access to valuable learning opportunities, exam preparation support, and skill development in areas of special interest.

  • Within 6 - 12 months of completing CCT
