Job Description

An opportunity to join a wonderful Midlands NHS Trust who are looking to expand the Dermatology consultant team in 2022 and beyond. The department are looking for a an experienced Dermatologist and specialist interests can be accommodated with some flexibility and this can be discussed further at interview. The trust is supportive of applicants looking to attain CESR, and the department have much recent success in helping consultants to progress to the specialist register. 

WHAT IS THE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST LIKE?

The Trust was formed on 1 July 2018 to bring together five hospitals and provides the highest quality care to patients across the Midlands. WHAT IS THE DERMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
Forward-thinking and innovative, the team provides regional, undergraduate and postgraduate training regional training centre, working closely with primary care to deliver care closer to home. The award-winning team is also developing tertiary services by growing specialised services increased cross-specialty working and has strong links within the medical division. The team includes 8 nurse specialists, 2 associate specialists, 3 locum and 10 substantive consultants. There is no out-of-hours commitment with this post.

The department have the flexibility to provide a bespoke job plan that encompasses your academic, teaching or research interests. They can also offer an annualised job plan and less than full time working. The Job Plans will be a prospective agreement that sets out a consultant’s duties, responsibilities & objectives. It will cover all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education & managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal & external.

In addition, it will include personal objectives, including details of their link to wider service objectives, & details of the support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan & the objectives. The job plan may be altered to accommodate the successful candidate to enable a more even spread across the Department. 

The department is supportive of CESR, providing consultant and senior support, with supervision, to ensure that you are supported through the process. 

WHAT IS LIFE LIKE IN THIS MIDLANDS COUNTY?
The hospitals are located in the north east midlands with great access to the North Westerly cities, Birmingham, London and the rest of the UK with its excellent national transport connections. The local region is beautiful, not far from the world-famous Peak District National Park and home to some of the UK’s most beautiful and dramatic countryside with nature, fresh air and wildlife being the cornerstone of this stunning part of the UK. It is not just a rural area however, and the area is well developed with two cities and several towns offering a feasible location for individuals to set up home.

In terms of location, this location offers the best of both worlds – city life on the doorstep of a stunning rural environment. We border the National Forest and we are in easy reach of the Peak District, offering outstanding natural beauty. Centrally located, they have excellent transport links to the rest of the country including major cities

ELIGIBILITY
EEA Candidates:

  • Experience of working in Dermatology
  • Board Certified Specialist in Dermatology

Non-EEA Candidates:

  • Experience of working in Dermatology

UK based applicants

  • Experience of working in Dermatology
  • Within 6 - 12 months of completing CCT
