An opportunity for an experienced General Adult Psychiatrist to work for an established NHS Trust that provides brilliant care for their patients through their brilliant people. This is a great opportunity for overseas Consultants in General Adult Psychiatry who want to establish themselves in the NHS, and grow their consultant career. The post is suitable for candidates holding specialisation in the EEA, or for experienced IMGs looking to complete CESR.

Specialty Doctors who are ambitious to complete CESR and work towards becoming a consultant will also be supported in this role. Section 12 and AC will also be supported. 

WHAT IS THE TRUST LIKE? 
The NHS Trust provides mental health, learning disability and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county. The Trust is rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care, and currently has 3,300 staff working across 33 locations, covering an area of 1,450 square miles. The NHS Trust is commissioned to provide secondary mental health services across their area, both in community and within inpatient settings.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE? 

The Community Mental Health Team provides a service to the adult population (18-65 years) in the town, and whose GP practice is in the nearby areas. The team provides a service to a mixed urban and rural population. Around 260,000 people live in the area covered by ICP. The Mental Illness Needs Index (MINI) is 0.885 and the MINI adjusted population of 17 and over is 182,000. The community mental health team service in the department is a Multidisciplinary team providing services for adults of working age group diagnosed with mental health disorders.

The teams consist of 3 full time consultants, each consultant providing care for each of the 3 localities. At present the team receives approximately 200 referrals a month. The case load of the Community Mental Health Team is currently 1130 patients. The majority of whom are allocated to care coordinators. The team also benefits from the support offered by psychologists and psychotherapists from Secondary Care Psychological Services (SCPTS). 

The post holder will be expected to work with other clinicians in keeping with the trust Lone Working Policy. The post holder will provide medical input as required to patients under care of the Community Mental Health Team and will attend CPAs for enhanced patients and provide urgent assessment/advice as required.

The area is a family-friendly county with first class state and independent schools and affordable housing. The average house price in the area is £360,000, so you get a lot of brick (and green space) for your buck compared to neighbouring regions. The countryside is unspoiled and attractive and there are excellent beaches within easy reach. 

In addition to the ones mentioned above, the area also has breathtaking castles, cathedrals and country houses bursting with history plus the mighty Bluewater shopping centre and a plethora of further choices for retail activities. There is a wealth of activities to keep little ones occupied and then you have the 350 miles of beaches, cliffs and coves; a coastline that is both stunning and stimulating, whatever the weather is!
