Salary: £88,364 - £119,133
Location: West London
Experience: Old Age Psychiatry Consultant Experience (or equivalent senior experience)
Qualifications: Specialist qualification + MRCPsych preferred
GMC: Registered or pending approval

HIGHLY RATED OLD AGE DEPARTMENT IN LONDON 
The department is part of an NHS Trust, which was awarded the Community-Based Mental Health Services for Older People a “Good” rating. The NHS Trust is one of the most diverse healthcare providers in the UK, delivering a range of mental health, physical healthcare and community services commissioned locally and nationally. In London the trust provides mental and physical healthcare in three London boroughs. It employs over 3800 staff providing care and treatment for more than 800,000 people.

The Older Persons Mental Health Service encompasses a specialist service for patients with complex, severe and enduring functional mental illness over age 70, as well as the Cognitive Impairment and Dementia Service which offers an ageless assessment and management services for people with cognitive impairment and primary dementias, including both diagnosis and management of BPSD. Where patients with a severe and enduring mental illness develop a dementia, they will be jointly managed to offer a holistic care and management plan. The service also provides support to patients in residential or nursing care. They work closely with other specialist and intermediate care services to provide as seamless a service as possible for their patient’s health and care needs. The service will have an overall caseload of approximately 110 patients. The referral rate is approximately 3 cases per week and the post holder will be involved with the diagnosis, ongoing management and crisis support of the patients.
 
The post holder will take a leading role in developing the service, supervising junior colleagues and providing lead medical input to a multi- disciplinary team and be required to enter information on the Trust's electronic patient record system according to Trust policies. The post holder is expected to work within the multidisciplinary team promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing on coherent and integrated team work.
