Job Description

Join an experienced and high performing Mental Health Single Point of Admission service in Wales providing care for individuals with mental disorders as a Consultant Psychiatrist and contribute to the development of services, including the establishment of a 24-hour single point of admission service. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact with the support of a dedicated multidisciplinary management team. 

The Community Mental Health Team handles approximately 100 referrals per month. Consultants participate in daily team meetings to discuss and allocate referrals, and a weekly rota system is used for patient allocation. The outpatient caseload for this role includes around 600 patients, with half of them under the care coordination of the CMHT. The team consists of dedicated professionals, including Community Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Healthcare Support Workers, a Psychologist, Medical Secretaries, and administrative staff.

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • To Provide advice and initiate prescription of medication used to treat mental health problems.
  • To monitor initial progress and when stable/in remission to provide guidance to GPs about continued prescribing.
  • To play a role in supervision of clinical work by other team members.

EEA Candidates:

  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry
  • Board Certified Specialist in General Adult Psychiatry

Non-EEA Candidates:

  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry

UK based applicants

  • Experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry
  • Within 6 - 12 months of completing CCT
