WHAT IS THE GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY - COMMUNITY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The Team is a group of forward thinking consultants that aim to provide the best possible care for their patients. Caseloads within the team are monitored through line management and caseload supervision. The current consultant caseload is 28, with three CTO patients and one MoJ patient. The Malvern Neighbourhood Mental Health Service received 620 referrals over the last 12 months.
The post holder will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and aftercare services to people aged 18 and above referred to the ATS. This job comprises two functions, assessment of new patients and also treatment of patients. The Post holders will participate into a weekly multi-disciplinary clinical meeting with the other members of the ATS at the Centre. The Post holders work will involve assessing level 1 and 2 new referrals, diagnosing and formulating management plans and risk assessments of newly referred patients. The post holder will also advise on treatment and risk management of patients who have confirmed diagnosis. The Post holders will be expected to undertake urgent assessments of new or current patients in crisis.

WHAT IS THE GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY - INPATIENT DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The Ward is a 14 Bed, mixed gender assessment ward based in Worcester. The ward takes all admissions from the community for patients in acute crisis. The ethos of the ward is dynamic assessment, allowing staff to work on identifying, and safely managing patient’s needs. The ward\'s role is to formulate care plans, assess risk and plan each patient’s progression over a 14 day period.
The team works closely together, especially on clinical maters with the inpatient Multi-Discliplinary consisting of 1 Ward Manager, 3 Deputy Ward Managers, 1 part time Psychologist, Nursing Staff, Healthcare Assistants, 1 Occupational Therapist, Support Workers, and Peer Support Workers based in the ward.

The Department & Team is a group of people who are hard-working, and dedicated to supporting their colleagues. They are friendly, efficient team on a 10 Programmed Activity per week basis. The department is well-equipped and has a dedicated MDM meeting rooms with video conferencing facilities. The MDMs are divided fairly amongst the consultants with only one pathologist attending each meeting and limited sub-specialisation. The department's laboratory is UKAS accredited, with state of the art equipment, dealing with over 29000 surgical cases and 2000 non-gynae cytology specimens per year.
The department has implemented the Warwick workload management system and this is used to allocate work to consultants. An established double reporting system for cancer cases is in place to enhance quality assurance. The case mix is that normally seen in a district general hospital, with consultants taking an integral role in cancer MDTs.
The post holder will play a full part in the provision of a diagnostic pathology service to the Trust and will be expected to contribute to the provision of a cancer pathology service for one or more anatomical sites, complementing the interests of the consultants already in post.

The department is part of the four divisions the NHS Trust has organised. The respiratory department is a fully integrated department: they provide a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient specialist services from their two acute sites. They also have a multi-disciplinary integrated respiratory team (RESPS) providing services across both acute sites, in the community and in the patients homes. The inpatient respiratory care is based on their main ward, which is a 28 bedded medical ward with a high turnover of acute respiratory and medical patients.
There are two consultants covering the ward in patients and referrals at any one time. The department meets daily with their multidisciplinary team attended by doctors in training, nursing staff, social service and physiotherapy teams to ensure efficient, safe, consultant led best practice and patient centred care. They incorporate medical education, audit and quality improvement into their ward rounds with their doctors in training to inspire and encourage learning.
