Job Description

An NHS general hospital in the East of England is looking for a Consultant in Endocrinology & Diabetes with an interest in General Internal Medicine. The Diabetes and Endocrinology department comprises a team of 4 consultants and is supported by a large team of middle grade doctors. This Diabetes and Endocrinology job is open to both international applications and UK-based doctors, though those with European Specialist or MRCP(UK) qualifications are most encouraged to apply.

Anyone requiring portfolio support (formally known as CESR) can have their required support discussed on a case by case basis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DETAILS

Eligibility for full registration with the GMC is essential, and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or within six months of CCT) in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine are preferred though not essential, as well as NHS epxerience. Anyone with an interest in inpatient diabetes care, diabetes technology, endocrine testing or specialist clinics such as painful neuropathy, foot care or thyroid management should apply.

CORE DUTIES OF THIS ROLE

  • Provide consultant-led care for Diabetes and Endocrinology patients through clinics and inpatient responsibilities under the Consultant of the Week model.

  • Participate in the general internal medicine on-call rota, currently 1 in 17 weekends.

  • Contribute to specialist diabetes clinics (e.g. antenatal, foot, pump) and endocrine clinics, with opportunity to develop further subspecialist areas of interest.

  • Participate in teaching of medical students, junior doctors and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the delivery of UEA Module 6 in Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Historically rich, the region includes Britain's oldest recorded town, stunning coastal heritage, and links to renowned British artists and authors.
