This is a full time post to provide senior medical input into the Old Age Community Treatment Team and will be based at the Centre for Health of the Elderly, Campus for Aging and Vitality. It will be supported by community services which include a Day Hospital, Older Adult Crisis Team and Behavioural Support Service. There are excellent links to the local University, with opportunities for teaching and research. This is an exciting time to be working in this Old Age community service, with major investment in buildings and infrastructure planned for the Campus for Ageing and Vitality.
WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY OLD AGE PSYCHIATRY TEAM LIKE?
The Older People’s Community service is delivered through three Community Treatment Teams (CTT). The CTTs comprise multi-professional teams including: Doctors, Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Support Workers. The CTTs provide a service to people with both functional and/or organic disorders, and are able to work flexibly across geographical boundaries in response to workload pressures. The CTT is supported by the Memory Assessment and Management Service (MAMS). MAMS provides assessment for early cognitive impairment and/or complex cognitive problems associated with other conditions. It operates across the city & region, providing outpatient and home based assessment and treatment services. Additionally, there is a Young Onset Dementia Team which provides specialist follow up for people living with dementia aged under 65.
