This is a great opportunity for overseas Psychiatry Consultants, Specialist Grade (Associate Specialist) or Specialty Doctors who want to establish themselves in the NHS, and grow their consultant career. The post is suitable for candidates holding specialisation in the EEA, or for experienced IMGs looking to complete CESR.

WHAT IS THE NHS TRUST LIKE?

The NHS Trust provide services for people of all ages, across a range of settings, experiencing both physical and/or mental health conditions across two big counties. They are the main providers of mental health and learning disability services in both counties, and also deliver community hospitals, neighbourhood teams and community nursing services for 750000 population.

WHAT IS THE GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY - INPATIENT DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?

The Ward is a 14 Bed, mixed gender assessment ward based in Worcester. The ward takes all admissions from the community for patients in acute crisis. The ethos of the ward is dynamic assessment, allowing staff to work on identifying, and safely managing patient’s needs. The ward's role is to formulate care plans, assess risk and plan each patient’s progression over a 14 day period.

The team works closely together, especially on clinical maters with the inpatient Multi-Discliplinary consisting of 1 Ward Manager, 3 Deputy Ward Managers, 1 part time Psychologist, Nursing Staff, Healthcare Assistants, 1 Occupational Therapist, Support Workers, and Peer Support Workers based in the ward.

The post holder will provide direct psychiatric services through the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment within a biopsychosocial model. The post holder will participate in the Consultant on call rota covering out of hours responsibilities including weekends.

It is a city which consistency ranks highly in surveys for happiness and safety, a testament to its good infrastructure, beautiful landscapes, historic architecture and low crime.

The vast majority of Worcester’s primary schools receive ‘good’ Ofsted ratings and commutable to places like London and Birmingham with excellent transport links in the city. Worcester is a city with an abundance of walks on its doorstep with places like Malvern Hills, Cotswolds and Forest of Dean.

The Trust is also the host to the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Research Consortium, a collaboration with Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust and Wye Valley NHS Trust to streamline research between the Trusts. We also have links with academic departments, including the University of Worcester.
