What is the department & team like?

The Stroke Medicine department is a beacon of specialized care, providing tailored support to patients navigating the complexities of stroke recovery. A dedicated stroke unit ensures comprehensive treatment in an environment designed for patients' unique needs, fostering trust and enhancing rehabilitation outcomes. The department features specialized amenities including a day room, therapy area, and relatives room, prioritizing patient comfort and convenience. Additionally, a dedicated Cardiac Care and Stroke Receiving Unit ensures swift interventions in critical situations.

A multidisciplinary team, including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech and Language Therapists, collaborates closely with other hospital services to provide holistic care. The Early Discharge Stroke Service provides personalised care plans, facilitates patients' transition home with ongoing support and rehabilitation for up to 6 weeks post-discharge.
