The post is suitable for candidates holding specialisation in the EEA, or for experienced IMGs looking to complete CESR.

WHAT IS THE NHS TRUST LIKE? 

The Trust is one of the largest organisations in the country and they employ over 6,000 dedicated staff with an annual turnover of £380 million who provides service to 525,000 people that live within the area. Their services are mainly provided from two district general hospitals, both have Emergency Departments and provide care 24 hours a day. They offer a comprehensive range of surgical, medical and maternity services supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE? 

The department is part of the four divisions the NHS Trust has organised. The respiratory department is a fully integrated department: they provide a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient specialist services from their two acute sites. They also have a multi-disciplinary integrated respiratory team (RESPS) providing services across both acute sites, in the community and in the patients homes. The inpatient respiratory care is based on their main ward, which is a 28 bedded medical ward with a high turnover of acute respiratory and medical patients.

There are two consultants covering the ward in patients and referrals at any one time. The department meets daily with their multidisciplinary team attended by doctors in training, nursing staff, social service and physiotherapy teams to ensure efficient, safe, consultant led best practice and patient centred care. They incorporate medical education, audit and quality improvement into their ward rounds with their doctors in training to inspire and encourage learning. They are looking for a colleague who shares their values in best practice to join them to develop their service and work further.

The appointee will be expected to help develop and enhance the general and respiratory medicine services for both inpatients and out-patients. The appointee is expected to be committed to the improvement of quality of clinical care in the Division and to participate in incident reporting, risk management, mortality reviews and Divisional Clinical Governance Meetings.
