Consultant in Elderly Care - Supports CESR

Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit Geriatricians to join a team with an excellent clinical reputation in providing a range of elderly care services. Applications are welcome from geriatricians with a range of experience, from specialty doctor to consultant. CESR is supported in this role.

UK and international applications are welcomed. You will join a consultant team delivering high quality elderly care services, meeting the needs of service to frail and older patients wherever they are based in the community or hospital. 

The trust is rated as 'good' with some areas of 'outstanding' by the CQC

WHAT IS THE ELDERLY CARE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE? 
You will join the department at a time of rapid growth and Geriatrics service development across the whole local health system including primary care, secondary care and community care. You will have an opportunity to gain valuable experience of service transformation and development.
The consultant team delivers a high quality needs related service to frail and older patients wherever they are. The team uses their knowledge and experience to lead and influence the development of services for the frail and elderly both within the Trust and in the community.

The city is a vibrant and prosperous city with something for everyone. It has excellent schools and colleges, and two thriving Universities. There are good theatres, an arena which attracts national and international performers, and several renowned arts centres and museums.

Set within a county of outstanding natural beauty, lively market towns and wonderful historic buildings, the city is one of the UK’s leading retail centres with a wide choice of restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

There is a good network of roads with easy access to the M1 and the A1, the rail service to London (two hours) and other major cities is frequent, and there are numerous international destinations from East Midlands Airport (30 mins) and Birmingham Airport (60mins).

WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU? 
The Geriatric team are looking for applicants with interests in any of the following sub specialties (applicants with other sub-specialty areas of interest will also be considered): 
  • Dementia
  • Falls
  • Ortho Geriatrics
  • Acute/Front door Geriatrics
  • Medical Education
You will also benefit from: 
  • Named Mentor for the first year of employment to facilitate settling in to the new working environment
  • Additional allocation of SPA time within the job plan for the first 2 years in order to allow time for service development (typically 7.5:2.5 split between DCC and SPA time)
  • Access to additional study leave funding for the first 2 years of employment
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE?

UK based applicants: 
  • Geriatric experience is essential
  • Within 6 months of completing CESR
