Job Description

An NHS hospital in the UK is looking for a Consultant Rheumatologist with an interest in inflammatory arthritis and autoimmune connective tissue diseases. The Rheumatology department comprises a team of consultants, a clinical fellow, and a large multidisciplinary team, including advanced nurse practitioners, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and pharmacists. This Rheumatology job is open to both international applications and UK-based doctors, though those with European Specialist or MRCP (UK) are most encouraged to apply.

Anyone requiring portfolio support (formally known as CESR) can have their required support discussed on a case-by-case basis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DETAILS

Full GMC registration with a licence to practice and inclusion on the Specialist Register (or eligibility within six months) is required for this role. Experience in rheumatological ultrasound and a special interest in conditions such as psoriatic arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis, or vasculitis would be desirable. The salary will be between £96,963 – £128,841 dependent on experience or grade.

CORE DUTIES OF THIS ROLE

  • Diagnose and treat patients with rheumatic diseases in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Support and develop rheumatology services, including specialist clinics for inflammatory arthritis and autoimmune connective tissue diseases.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and training to junior doctors and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Contribute to audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives within the Rheumatology service.
