The hospital provides a full range of general acute services and specialist services such as perinatal and fertility services, bariatric and laparoscopic surgery, and stroke and neuro-rehabilitation. The Trust has a turnover of around £350 million and aims to increase this to £400 million over the next few years.

The Stroke Medicine Department & Team

The Stroke Medicine Department at this NHS hospital is a dedicated unit providing multi-disciplinary inpatient acute care and early rehabilitation for stroke patients of all ages. The current stroke service comprises a 24-bedded unit and handles a significant number of stroke inpatients and TIA referrals annually. The team includes specialist doctors, nurses, therapists, psychologists, and dieticians working collaboratively to ensure high-standard care. The department offers outpatient services, including medical reviews, follow-up reviews, rapid-access TIA clinic appointments, and new stroke referral appointments.

The stroke service actively participates in the North Thames Stroke Research Network, enrolling patients in several multi-centre clinical trials.

This NHS job offers further training and accreditation within Stroke Medicine, including CESR Portfolio Pathway Support, access to specialty training, and the opportunity to develop sub-specialist interest.
