The Department is a 14 bedded ward which admits adults of working age. The district covers a largely rural area of 285 square miles with a population of approximately 114,000. There are 275 admissions per 100,000 adult population in Somerset. Over the last three years there was an average of 223 admissions per year with bed occupancy being lower than the national average. The majority of the patients admitted were given a diagnosis of a psychotic illness, followed by a mood disorder and then personality disorders.
The post holder will be part of the team which consists of a ward manager 0.5WTE, a deputy ward manager 1WTE, a trainee doctor 1.WTE, a medical secretary 0.4WTE, a ward administrator 1.0WTE, a ward psychologist 0.5WTE, three occupational therapists, 11 staff nurses, 17 health care assistants, and 6 service assistants.
The post holder will also be responsible for conducting Mental Health Act assessments for adults of working age admitted to the ward. Other Mental Health Act assessments for adults of working age in Mendip will fall to the community adult consultant psychiatrists. The post holder may be invited to contribute.

A Health Board in Wales is looking to appoint four middle grade histopathologists to work in an innovative CESR Fellow posts. Appointed at the level of a specialty doctor or specialist with a view to transition into a locum consultant post after 12-months, and substantive consultant post after 24-months - this is a really unique type of opportunity and not one found across the NHS. Short-term, there is the opportunity to work within a close group of four other IMG anatomical pathologists, all holding FRCPath Histopathology. You\'ll be onboarded with a full supportive team, including one designated CESR Mentor for the Trust, a specially appointed Educational Supervisor with joint responsibility for your CESR portfolio for specialist registration. The role will be structured specifically to a) ensure you are reporting up to speed as an NHS-trained histopathologists as soon as possible and b) to provide a structured job plan with milestones that will enable quick progression through the Portfolio Pathway in Histopathology.
Mid-term you\'ll begin to form specialist interests in the common and less common anatomical areas. After two years the role may offer you the new regional hub - a centre of digitalised excellence and the jewel in the Pathology Crown of Wales.

WHAT IS THE GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY - COMMUNITY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The Team is a group of forward thinking consultants that aim to provide the best possible care for their patients. Caseloads within the team are monitored through line management and caseload supervision. The current consultant caseload is 28, with three CTO patients and one MoJ patient. The Malvern Neighbourhood Mental Health Service received 620 referrals over the last 12 months.
The post holder will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and aftercare services to people aged 18 and above referred to the ATS. This job comprises two functions, assessment of new patients and also treatment of patients. The Post holders will participate into a weekly multi-disciplinary clinical meeting with the other members of the ATS at the Centre. The Post holders work will involve assessing level 1 and 2 new referrals, diagnosing and formulating management plans and risk assessments of newly referred patients. The post holder will also advise on treatment and risk management of patients who have confirmed diagnosis. The Post holders will be expected to undertake urgent assessments of new or current patients in crisis.
