Specialists in Cardiology with a Sub-Specialty Interest in Imaging & Heart Failure holding a specialist certification would be suitable for this post, based on experience entering at either Specialty Doctor or Consultant grade.

WHAT IS HEALTH BOARD LIKE?
The Health Board is largest health organisation in Wales, that are developing an integrated health service which provides excellent care delivered in partnership with the public and other statutory and third sector organisations.
The Health Board have a budget of £1.3 billion and a workforce of over 17,000 staff. Providing primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for the population of around 700,000 across of North Wales. They continuously develop their workforce so that it has the right skills and operates in a research-rich learning culture.
Besides their three main hospital sites, they are also responsible for community hospitals, health centres, clinics, mental health units, community teams, GP practices and other NHS services provided by dentists, opticians and pharmacists. They plan to improve the health of the population, with particular focus upon the most vulnerable in our society.
WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The Department has a Cardiac Centre that was created in 2014 with the opening of the second catheter laboratory one of the NHS' sites. The Centre was formed to provide tertiary cardiac services for the population of North Wales. The team is consist of 4 Consultant Cardiologists, 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Specialist Registrars, 2 Foundation Year 2 and 2 Foundation Year 1. There is a very well developed Heart Failure Team both in ‘primary’ and ‘secondary’ care supported by 5 Heart Failure Specialist Nurses (including palliate care) and a Specialist Pharmacist.
The Inpatient cardiology patients are located on ACU and CCU. There is a cardiology rota to see referrals from the general medical on–call service and for CCU. The current cardiology consultants are on the general medical on call rota, while all new referrals are seen in the cardiology department in one-stop clinics. Follow ups are seen in main out patients. The service provides echocardiography, device follow-up, treadmill testing and 24 hour and long term monitoring. The echocardiography department undertakes trans-thoracic, trans- oesophageal echocardiography and stress echocardiography.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiology service supported by other members of the department. The post holder is expected to provide professional supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and contributions to local undergraduate and postgraduate activity.
