The Gastroenterology Department is part of the Division of Medicine and Emergency Care. The gastroenterology service is Consultant led and is committed to delivering the highest possible standards of clinical care. The Department has recently received further investment and is now funded for x8 full time Consultants. Supporting these Consultants are one Specialty Doctor, two Specialty Trainees (ST3+), two CMTs, one GP Trainee one F2, one F1, two WTE hepatology / liver Advanced Nurse Practitioners and one WTE inflammatory bowel disease Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The gastroenterology in-patients are located on one ward. The department has use of a Planned Investigations Unit (PIU) and a purpose-built Treatment Centre for day case treatments / procedures. The Endoscopy Unit is based at Leighton Hospital. The Endoscopy Unit has recently been refurbished and provides 5 modern endoscopy rooms, one of which is equipped with digital imaging facilities. The post holder will be provided with secretarial support, office facilities and a computer with appropriate IT support and Internet access.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake outpatient clinics, endoscopy, in-patient ward rounds and participate in an out of hours upper GI bleed rota when this commences later in the year.

The pre-existing team is commissioned by hospital and provides a co-located integrated liaison support for the Paediatric and Neonatal Units at the hospital. The team provide clinical input for in-patients and out-patients under the care of these departments who have comorbid or combined psychological and medical needs. The team are not commissioned for crisis input.
The Team anticipates about 600 referrals to the MHLS per site per year across two hospitals under the trust. Roughly 60% of these are in ED and need one assessment which is carried out initially by the local CAMHS teams and the OOH nurse team. Approximately 30 CYP a year present on a Section136 to A&E in both sites requiring psychiatric evaluation. Of the 600 referrals up to 60% will remain on the pediatric wards and will require Liaison Psychiatry.
The successful post-holder will have their own desk and office space within the Paediatric Consultant office area and immediate access to private rooms for confidential work. They will have a mobile phone, a desktop and also a laptop for remote working, with access to IT support. The post holder will have access to full time administrator support.

The ward is a mixed gender acute psychiatric ward with 18 beds. The ward provides assessment and treatment for patients who cannot be safely managed in the community by the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Teams. This includes a significant number of patients detained on Sections 2 and 3 of the Mental Health Act.
The Team is a close-knit group of 30 colleagues, mostly holding substantive posts, which meet regularly in formal and informal meetings. Whilst several CPD peer groups have formed within the trust, the consultants are also encouraged to seek peer groups outside the organization as an opportunity to network and share experience with colleagues from other services. A monthly Balint-Group for consultants is facilitated by the Consultant Medical Psychotherapist and gives opportunity to conduct in-depth case based discussions (CbD) required for annual appraisals and revalidation.
The post-holder is expected to be actively involved in all aspects of service development of the department and the wider organization. They treat patients with suspected minor strokes and Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIAs) in a daily assessment unit in an attempt to prevent further larger strokes occurring.
The team currently has six stroke consultants, two academic consultants, one neurologist and one acute medicine consultant, providing a 24 hour 7 day a week service. Care ranges from emergency assessment and treatments (including clot-busting thrombolysis therapy and clot retrieval) in the first few hours after stroke to rehabilitation (physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy). These help the stroke survivor to return home and regain independence after a stroke.
The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic team with a specialist interest in stroke care. This appointment will play a key part in further developments of the stroke pathway, providing input to hyper acute stroke, acute stroke, intensive rehab and continuing stroke rehabilitation.

WHAT IS THE DERMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
Forward-thinking and innovative, the team provides regional, undergraduate and postgraduate training regional training centre, working closely with primary care to deliver care closer to home. The award-winning team is also developing tertiary services by growing specialised services increased cross-specialty working and has strong links within the medical division. The team includes 8 nurse specialists, 2 associate specialists, 3 locum and 10 substantive consultants. There is no out-of-hours commitment with this post.
The department have the flexibility to provide a bespoke job plan that encompasses your academic, teaching or research interests. They can also offer an annualised job plan and less than full time working. The Job Plans will be a prospective agreement that sets out a consultant’s duties, responsibilities & objectives. It will cover all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education & managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal & external.
In addition, it will include personal objectives, including details of their link to wider service objectives, & details of the support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan & the objectives. The job plan may be altered to accommodate the successful candidate to enable a more even spread across the Department.

The Trust is a clinically led service, drawing on the knowledge and experience of our team of 27 Oncologists. The Consultants delivering the service are involved in National and International teaching and research.
Across two sites, the radiotherapy department is well equipped with state of the art radiotherapy equipment. They are proud to be one of the few departments in the UK to have an Adaptive Varian ETHOS™, allowing real time adaptive radiotherapy, plus seven Varian Truebeam® (one STX with ExacTrac and four with 6 degrees of freedom couch). Furthermore, they have an established SABR programme for lung cancer, and oligometastes.
The Trust also provide a nationally renowned High dose rate brachytherapy service, including gynecological, prostate, rectal and oesophageal brachytherapy; with a dedicated brachytherapy theatre on-site, which is also used to house the Contact radiotherapy machine for rectal treatments.
There is a large SACT service, treating up to 200 patients a day across our four sites, with an ongoing focus on delivering chemo closer to home. Additionally, The Trust has a well established, innovative nurse led service, with nurse led SACT clinics and PICC service running daily.
The dedicated oncology / haemato-oncology inpatient ward (Onslow) has 34 beds. Chilworth Day Unit has designated facilities for day care chemotherapy and procedures. Chemotherapy is also provided in the community via a mobile infusion and injection service, with partnership with McKesson UK and Lloyd’s pharmacy Clinical Homecare Ltd (LPCH).

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to join an established NHS community clinic in London. The post if suitable for overseas psychiatrists, including candidates who are pursuing CESR. Specialists in Psychiatry, holding a specialist certification would be suitable for this post, based on experience entering at either Specialty Doctor or Consultant grade.
WHAT IS THIS MENTAL HEALTH TRUST LIKE?
The Trust is performing at a good level across all community and inpatient services, it provides integrated mental health services in London and also provides community health services across its catchment area. They are a large provider of integrated mental health services, employing 3,359 staff with an annual income of £237 million. The trust serves a population of 1.2 million and operates services from five main inpatient sites and a further 25 sites in the community. Specialist services include regional forensic, eating disorders and adolescent inpatient services and a national stalking service.
In 2014 they were awarded \'University Affiliated’ status, which facilitates stronger working relations, including the opportunity for experienced academics and experienced clinicians within the Trust to coproduce mental health education and research projects which meet the needs of local people. This agreement enhances the current partnership between the two organisations, demonstrating a strong commitment to education, research and development.
WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The post offered is that of Consultant Psychiatrist in Older Adult Psychiatry, working in both the community mental health team and the memory clinic. In addition to this post, three additional CMHTs make up the older adult community service for the borough. The personnel of the CMHT include: medical staff, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapist, and Psychiatric Social Workers. There is a Psychological Therapy Department which provides therapy for older adults and which works across CMHTs in the Borough as does the Occupational Therapy Service.
The post holder will have responsibility for the diagnostic assessment and treatment of older adult psychiatric patients from the designated catchment area referred to and accepted by the service. Outpatient clinics and domiciliary visits in the community will constitute the majority of the direct clinical care provided by the post holder.
