A University Health Board in Wales is recruiting senior Radiologists that are looking to attain Specialist Registration in the NHS via CESR.
Radiologist with interests in all sub-specialisms will be considered with a range of different hospitals to be based out of.
The position will offer 9 hours of non-clinical work or SPAs within the job plan for Audit, Teaching and Professional Development
Job details:
The Health Board provides diagnostic imaging services across all four of their general hospitals with additional imaging in several community hospitals. These include CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, diagnostic cardiac angiography, mammography, fluoroscopy, general radiology, theatre radiology and mobile radiography. The imaging systems include computed radiography (CR) technology and digital radiography (DR) mobiles.

The combined Radiology Department within the Health Board is equipped with the
following:
- MRI scanners on each site:
- Siemens–Aeva1.5T
- SiemensMagnetomSola1.5T o PPH–GE1.5T

- 12 Ultrasound rooms equipped with Toshiba, Philips, GE and Samsung ultrasound units.

- Fuji CR system at on all sites
- Full Picture Archiving and Communications System provided by Fuji systems
This role will provide excellent support to international doctors that are new to the NHS. All the hospitals support their new doctors with complete inductions, followed by a structured departmental induction, shadowing of an existing doctor.
The Health Board also runs a successful Consultant Development and Mentoring programme for newly appointed Consultants aimed at developing you as a senior leader to enable you to contribute effectively in leadership capacities in the Health Board and NHS in general.
For IMGs the trust run a well-established CESR programme, recently redevoped to ensure greater success. Unlike most locations in the UK, this job will provide you with a full and structured CESR Programme

This is an established Adult Mental Health Service in London.
The team is looking to appoint an experienced Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry, and can support with Section 12, Approved Clinician and CESR.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & JOB PLAN LIKE?
The Oncology department is experienced, vast and technologically advanced. With three main sites where oncological care can be provided there is a variety of environments you can work in.
They are looking to build the team and flex to the skillsets of new colleagues. There will be 8.5PAs for DCC including on call (1 in 22). The job plan will depend on the speciality/ specialities of interest but will include outpatient clinics, chemotherapy planning, radiotherapy planning (in the case of clinical oncology colleagues). We would like colleagues to be involved in one peripheral practice either in the east or west of the region. Time will be allocated for MDT attendance.

WHAT IS THE TRUST LIKE?
The Trust in the East of England with two main acute hospitals and has traditionally scored highly on their CQC reports and cancer waiting targets. Now with the delays to cancer care caused by covid-19 there is a real urgency to recruit and help recitfy some of the cancer targets that are being missed.
WHAT IS THE ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
This role will be based at the larger of the two sites, and if successful you would be joining a team of eight oncology consultants in their specialist cancer unit on site. The consultants are currently supported by a specialty doctor team and are a team of nine consultants total.
The post holder will work according to an agreed job plan of 10 PA (40-hours per week) with a minimum of 8.5 PAs dedicated to Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 SPAs (supporting professional activities). There will also be some on call commitment to this role which can be discussed during interview. The role will embrace all aspects of Oncology including solid tumour chemotherapy and technically advanced radiotherapy (if a clinical oncologist).
The primary requirement is for Upper & Lower GI cancers and have an open interest to other tumour sites

This role is primarily looking for clinical consultants on the specialist register for oncology however they can consider applicants from medical oncologists with similar interests, or doctors not yet on the specialist register.
For those not on the specialist register, support can be provided towards their CESR application
Consultants on the specialist register will be given autonomy and will freedom to develop their special interests, with access to additional leadership, research and teaching duties available for those that want it.
Regardless of specialism, all consultants will be fully integrated members of the oncology team and receive full induction process and will be involved in clinical audit and governance.

Medical & Clinical Oncology consultants looking to start or continue their careers in the NHS are invited to join excellent, large specialised hospital Trust on the South Coast of England. WHAT IS THE PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
Their aim is to incorporate the latest technologies and innovations to ensure the service is prepared for current and future challenges of the modern NHS, and the Trust is working towards a collaboration with a large teaching hospital and tertiary centre in China. This will bring exciting opportunities to the Histopathology department with regards research and teaching. There will be programmes of fellowship including histopathology, collaborated research projects are already started and in progress.
- The post holder appointed will take a proportionate share in the provision of the service in surgical pathology, and cytopathology.
- Surgical cut-up is performed by Consultant Pathologists, Specialty Registrars and Biomedical Scientists.
- Two biomedical scientists have completed the Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological dissection (cut-up) and one is currently in training.
- Small biopsies are handled by the technical staff.
- The Consultant Pathologists report all FNA and non-cervical cytology specimens.
- There is no provision of FNA for one stop clinics and histopathologists are not involved in taking FNA samples.
- There is currently no true sub-specialisation in the reporting of surgical histology or diagnostic cytology, although there is a lead pathologist for each of the cancer sites who acts as a contact point within the Department and participates in multidisciplinary meetings.
- There is no on-call commitment.
- The post holder may choose to undertaken coronial post mortem examinations through direct agreement with the local coroners services. This is via agreement directly with the coroner, coverage of post mortem activity if offset by time shifting of contracted NHS time to take account of the time spent undertaking the coronial post mortems.

General Histopathology
The hospital is situated within close distance of the town centre and is the designated major accident and emergency centre in the district providing a full range of acute services. It serves a population of approximately 380,000.
The Hospital is a large DGH; the A&E gets 100,000 attendances per year, and they have 16,000 medical admissions per year. They have recently opened a brand new purpose built admissions hub in 2018 for assessment and initial management of most medical patients with very early consultant led review of attendees. They also have a fully functional ambulatory care center for streamlined management of acute admissions closely working with our emergency department.
WHAT IS THE GASTROENTEROLOGY DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The Gastroenterology department has significantly grown over the last two years with currently 8 full time consultant gastroenterologists. They manage most aspects of Gastroenterology care, including management of viral hepatitis, undertaking Fibroscan in clinics and bowel cancer screening. The department have a close working relationship with the tertiary centre colleagues in nearby hospitals for HPB surgery, upper GI cancer surgery, Complex Hepatology and transplant. The three room modern endoscopy unit is equipped with Olympus equipment including scope guide which is vital in providing training in lower GI endoscopy procedures. They undertake complex polypectomy EMRs, ERCP, biliary and upper GI EUS as well as EBUS in our endoscopy unit. The unit is JAG accredited for training as well as bowel cancer screening.
There is currently one 32 - bedded Gastroenterology ward and they work closely with the critical care colleagues for management of patients requiring HDU or level 3 care. Inpatient clinical care is currently supported by three consultant led teams along with 3 SpRs as well as a mixture of 5 further junior members of our team. There is a dedicated and friendly group of experienced nursing staff on the ward. They have a well-established group of specialist nurses; including two inflammatory bowel disease specialist nurses, one hepatitis specialist nurse and one nutrition support nurse. They also work closely with the upper GI Macmillan team as well as colorectal specialist nurses.
The department have weekly GI cancer MDTs on Thursday mornings, monthly IBD MDT and monthly endoscopy governance meetings.
WHAT IS LIFE LIKE IN THE REGION?
The town itself has a fascinating blend of rich heritage, distinguished history and all the energy and vigor you would expect of one of the fastest growing modern commercial towns in the United Kingdom. The town has much to offer with cinemas, theatres, parks and restaurants. There are a number of convenient retail centers. It has its own rugby stadium, football stadium and a number of other sporting venues including climbing and even a trampolining center. The town is surrounded by extensive areas of natural beauty. There are a large number of country parks and woodlands as well as many country pubs serving delicious food. Housing is affordable both in town and in the many attractive villages that surround us. There is excellent schooling.
The town also provides easy access to London (70 miles) and other parts of the UK (Birmingham 40 miles, Leicester 40 miles Oxford 50 miles and Cambridge 50 miles) through rail links and motorway networks. It is usefully situated at the heart of England and the M1 being nearby allows for rapid access to both London and the North. Many major household names have established their UK headquarters or major operations centers here. There are also several airports within easy range.
The County is part of a designated growth area, which will see significant development and consequent population growth over the next 25 years. The population of the county has already risen from 688,000 in 2010 to 760,000 this year. Whilst there is currently a relatively young population, including people from many different ethnic backgrounds and cultural beliefs, there are also a rapidly rising number of people aged over 75.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE?
The role requires significant experience in gastroenterology at a senior level, preferably at consultant level.
- For UK based gastroenterologists: you will be required to be within approximately 6 months of gaining CCT or CESR, or indeed hold specialist registration.
- For EEA candidates: you will be required to hold specialist diploma or certification in gastroenterology and hold consultant experience in gastroenterology.
- For Non-EEA candidates: you will be required to have complete the MRCP exams and hold consultant experience in gastroenterology.
