The TB caseload is 100 notifications per year. The TB team is well staffed by 4 WTE nurses & 0.6 WTE case worker to provide latent TB screening, screening for immunosuppressive therapies, direct-observed therapy, community outreach as well as inpatient support.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The service provides specialist healthcare services for adults with learning disability for the population of 140,000 total population. Community services are provided by multi-disciplinary Community Learning Disability Teams located in the 5 local authorities’ bases within the county. The CLDTs are co-located with social services and have close organisational links.
The service has developed links with primary and secondary care. There are also close links facilitated by being part of a Mental Health and LD Division, with Adult Mental Health. Work is currently being undertaken to ensure smooth working across specialities through the development of care pathways for interface issues.
The post holder is expected to provide outpatient care throughout the county and to play a full and active role in the community teams. The post holder is expected to lead medical responsibility for an area of clinical governance. The post holder is expected to lead on service development within a particular area of service.
The Health Board is also very active in facilitating the development of junior medical staff to ensure that the medical service of the future is highly trained and effective. There are four centres for postgraduate education with Postgraduate Organisers appointed at each centre. The central Deanery in Wales is based in Cardiff and is headed by Professor Derek Gallen, Postgraduate Dean. The Health Board enjoys a close relationship with the Postgraduate Deanery and annual visits to each centre ensure that the postgraduate education taking place across the Health Board is relevant and effective.
