The oncology department utilises world-leading technologies, machines and resources, including 4 matched Varian linear accelerators and a Toshiba CT simulator. Approximately 3,500 new referrals are seen per year and around 22,000 episodes of chemotherapy are delivered per annum.
Both departments have extensive support staff which includes 7 clinical oncology registrars, 4 medical oncology registrars and SHOs on a variety of training schemes. There are 39 funded beds.

Caseloads within the team are monitored through line management and caseload supervision. The current consultant caseload is 28, with three CTO patients and one MoJ patient. The Malvern Neighbourhood Mental Health Service received 620 referrals over the last 12 months.
The post holder will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and aftercare services to people aged 18 and above referred to the ATS. This job comprises two functions, assessment of new patients and also treatment of patients. The Post holders will participate into a weekly multi-disciplinary clinical meeting with the other members of the ATS at the Centre. The Post holders work will involve assessing level 1 and 2 new referrals, diagnosing and formulating management plans and risk assessments of newly referred patients. The post holder will also advise on treatment and risk management of patients who have confirmed diagnosis. The Post holders will be expected to undertake urgent assessments of new or current patients in crisis.

The current case load varies between 500 and 600 cases with a referral of approx. 5 cases per day. The Community Mental Health Team provides a service to the adult population (18-65 years) in the town, and whose GP practice is in the nearby areas. The team provides a service to a mixed urban and rural population. Around 260,000 people live in the area covered by ICP. The Mental Illness Needs Index (MINI) is 0.885 and the MINI adjusted population of 17 and over is 182,000. The community mental health team service in the department is a Multidisciplinary team providing services for adults of working age group diagnosed with mental health disorders.
The teams consist of 3 full time consultants, each consultant providing care for each of the 3 localities. At present the team receives approximately 200 referrals a month. The case load of the Community Mental Health Team is currently 1130 patients. The majority of whom are allocated to care coordinators. The team also benefits from the support offered by psychologists and psychotherapists from Secondary Care Psychological Services (SCPTS).
The post holder will be expected to work with other clinicians in keeping with the trust Lone Working Policy. The post holder will provide medical input as required to patients under care of the Community Mental Health Team and will attend CPAs for enhanced patients and provide urgent assessment/advice as required.

You will be working with a team of highly skilled doctors that aims to provide great service to their patients. WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The department is a team of established multi professional doctors at the Clinical Assessment Unit. It is a 14 bedded in-patient facility, which offers assessment for people with a variety of mental health needs across several towns. On Clinical Decisions Unit, a high level of skill and knowledge is required across the team, who are providing assessment, observation and care to people who are in a crisis or experiencing complex needs.
Although every patient’s journey is individualised, the emphasis on the assessment, and clinical decisions are usually made with a plan to support recovery, within a 7-day period. The post holder is expected to:
