The inpatient services are currently undergoing extensive refurbishment, including two wards for older adults. The other ward provides 10 assessment beds for patients with dementia. Following the refurbishment, the latter ward will feature 8 acute assessment beds and 8 transitional/step-down beds for those with dementia or enduring mental health problems who cannot be supported in local nursing or residential homes.

The Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (OACMHT) manages a caseload of about 300 patients, including new referrals triaged by the Crisis and Assessment team, providing both short-term treatment and long-term care coordination. The role involves providing medical support to the OACMHT alongside two other consultants and a staff grade doctor.

The post holder will join an established team, comprising 2 WTE older adult consultants, 1.0 WTE Associate Specialist (Memory Assessment Service), 2.0 WTE staff grades (inpatient and community), and 1.0 WTE F1 doctor (inpatients and community). General Adult Psychiatry Department & Team

The inpatient service features 17 adult acute beds, including an extra-care area, for individuals aged 18 to 65 with severe mental illness requiring admission. The goal is to promote recovery and well-being, helping service users achieve their potential. The service caters to a diverse population with complex needs. The multidisciplinary inpatient team includes doctors (two part-time consultants, staff grade/clinical fellow, and F2), a clinical psychologist, nurses, a social worker, occupational therapists, an art therapist, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff.

The Home Treatment Team functions as a step-up, step-down service to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitate early discharge. They attend ward reviews, support patients on leave, and assist with discharge planning, also gatekeeping inpatient beds. The team includes two part-time consultants, a 0.5 FTE team manager, two FTE senior practitioners, 5.5 FTE nurse practitioners, one FTE social worker, three FTE senior HCAs, and one FTE occupational therapist. The caseload for this post is estimated to be 120. The CAMHS department is part of the East and North Strategic Business Unit in the NHS Foundation Trust. CAMHS is divided into 5 service divisions. 

The CAMHS Community Eating Disorders Service is a newly expanded, multi-disciplinary team which provides specialist CAMHS input to children and young people with eating disorders. It provides home-based treatment, out-patient treatment and gate-keeps referrals to in-patient services. The team has been successful in attracting Government funding to allow service expansion.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE? 

The department is falls within the hospital services division. It is a 17 bed unit and functions as a male acute treatment ward. Patients admitted to the ward are usually subject to a \"gate-keeping\" assessment by the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team and/or the MHCAS service or Mental Health Liaison Services. The main purpose of the ward is to ensure the comprehensive, timely and efficient assessment, diagnosis and treatment of all patients with a clear focus on achieving a safe return to treatment in a least-restrictive setting back in the community as quickly as possible. This involves the proactive anticipation, evaluation and resolution of all potential impediments to early discharge of the patient. The postholder will ensure two ward rounds and one management round take place every week.

The team, led by the Ward Manager of the ward, is comprised of professionals from various disciplines. The postholder will collaborate closely with the Ward Manager, sharing responsibility for delivering efficient and top-notch inpatient care. At the site, the inpatient psychology team serves all treatment wards, with a 0.2 Whole-Time Equivalent (WTE) allocation per ward. The inpatient psychology service focuses on conducting assessments and providing brief focal therapy to address acute distress or crises for individuals, as well as their caregivers and families, adhering to evidence-based practices. When suitable, the service may also offer group therapy, assessment-informed consultation, and psychometric evaluations.

The post holder\'s responsibilities include medical input, consultation and clinical leadership to the ward team and overall clinical responsibility for patients admitted to the ward, as well as medical input and leadership in care planning and risk assessment for patients. The post holder is expected to ensuring Care Planning is implemented for patients on the ward.

The post holder will provide psychiatric input to adults with learning disabilities of 18 years and older within the area. The post holder will be a key member of the team and will have access to clinical space at the clinic. It is also expected that psychiatric assessment, advice and liaison will be given in a variety of community locations. For example: The post holder is expected to carry out assessments of complex cases and support development of multi-disciplinary management plans.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE? 

The department is a team of established multi professional doctors at the Clinical Assessment Unit. It is a 14 bedded in-patient facility, which offers assessment for people with a variety of mental health needs across several towns. On Clinical Decisions Unit, a high level of skill and knowledge is required across the team, who are providing assessment, observation and care to people who are in a crisis or experiencing complex needs.

Although every patient’s journey is individualised, the emphasis on the assessment, and clinical decisions are usually made with a plan to support recovery, within a 7-day period. The post holder is expected to:

• Providing medical treatment within a model of multi-disciplinary care.
• Compiling a patient’s history from a number of sources and preparing case summaries and discharge summaries.
• Preparing reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers’ Hearings and giving evidence.
• Liaising with other clinical teams within and outside of the trust.
• Liaising with general practitioners and medical specialists with regards the physical health of the patients.

The department is transforming their children and young people’s mental health services across Greater Manchester and looking for people to join their fantastic team. They have lots of jobs available from assistant mental health practitioners, staff nurses, senior mental health practitioners, psychotherapists and psychologists.

The service is a 12 bedded unit, and helps children and young people up to the age of 16 years, and provide assessments, intervention and support to their families/carers. The CAMHS inpatient services operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and accept emergency, planned and out of hours admissions. The CAMHS Inpatient services also provides Tier 4 consultation, and advice to other professionals and the successful candidate will take a lead in providing their clinical expertise. The also provide consultation, advice and training to other agencies and accept referrals from a wide range of professionals.

The post holder is expected to take clinical responsibility for all 12 young people who are inpatient on the unit, & manage a caseload of clients who are receiving direct high intensity input.
