A fantastic opportunity for specialist in geriatric or elderly care medicine to settle into their first consultant post and work towards their CESR application, if that is the intention.
The hospital will consider senior consultants with no UK experience who are not on the UK specialist register for geriatric medicine.
The Geriatrics department is a small and manageable size with a 28 bedded inpatient ward and various other outlier beds.
Currently no formal geriatric outpatient services are offered with the exception of a Parkinson's / Movement clinic. The department will be looking to develop these in conjunction with skill set of a successful applicant.
The Geriatrics department comprises 3 consultants in elderly care medicine supported by 15 specialty registrars, 9 core medical trainees and FY2's and 9 FY1's working full shifts for GIM on call.
Each consultant will be offered a budget and 30 days of study and professional leave over each 3 year period to pursue their career development activities. Furthermore there is an active Postgraduate Medical Centre which acts as a focus for contract between doctors at all levels an in all disciplines.
Consultants will be encouraged to actively participate in teaching and training of juniors throughout their tenure.

The department is well staffed and the new appointee will join a team of 20 oncologists. The post is predominantly based in the trusts dedicated cancer centre. The post would focus on colorectal or upper GI cancer and cancer of the unknown primary (CUP) with possible work in other disease sites if needed.

The department:
The department offers modern and well-resourced inpatient facilities on dedicated wards. This includes NIV, High Flow Nasal Oxygen, Step down ventilatory care and pleural ultrasound.
Outpatient services include bronchoscopy lists across all sites with EBUS provision. They offer comprehensive pulmonary function facilitates across the trust including sleep services and bronchial provocation testing. The lung function labs have recently been upgraded to state of the art equipment including a brand new cardiopulmonary exercise machine with excellent exercise physiology research links at Lancaster University.
Specialist clinics are currently offered for lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, asthma, sleep/ventilation and TB.

This vacancy is based in an established Adolescent Psychiatry ward which is a 16 bedded, Tier 4 Adolescent inpatient Unit within the London Sector. The Unit has undergone a CQC inspection in September 2017, and received a good rating in all domains.

WHAT IS THE INPATIENT WARD & TEAM LIKE?
The Centre is managed by the Mental Health NHS Trust within its Specialist Service Line which also includes their London Forensic Service, Eating Disorder Service and Substance Misuse Services. They work very closely with local community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Adolescent CAMHS teams across the three boroughs and the Paediatric Liaison teams within the London Sector.
The service provides an inpatient service for adolescents with major mental health problems referred by CAMHS Tier 3/3.5 Services (usually by a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist). Moving towards the NCEL Partnership the referrals will be taken from the partnership area, moving from national commissioning.The age range of referrals taken is of young people from their 13th birthday to their 18th birthday.
The post holder will hold Clinical responsibility for 8-9 young people which will be decided on discussions with the consultant colleague in the unit.

Excellent opportunity to join a high performing Mental Health trust witin the inpatient sector. The centre in total is a 39 bedded inpatient unit catering for people who need an acute admission to hospital following a mental health crisis.
The unit, made up of two wards is based on a University Hospital site in central midlands. There are 19 beds on each ward, which are gender specific, and a 39th bed for the CAMHS service.
There is a medical team for each ward, consisting of a Consultant, Specialty Doctor and two Trainee Doctors. They work in collaboration with Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Peer Support Workers and other members of the social and recovery team.
This role is based within the male ward. A significant proportion of admissions are for a short stay for patients who have a range of mental presentations including psychosis, personality disorder and mood disorders.
The team, led by the Consultant, offers a comprehensive assessment and treatment package of person-centred care to all patients. Bi- weekly ward rounds allow for care plans to be monitored and close collaboration with patients, families and carers focusing on recovery. The team work towards facilitating timely discharge from hospital by working closely with colleagues in the Crisis Resolution Team and community services.
The post-holder will work in collaboration with the matron, ward manager, nurses and other members of the MDT to constantly ensure high quality care is delivered.

Providing healthcare to a diverse population, this trust utilises all the community resources available including health, social care, VCSE organisations and local communities and consider resources to support wellbeing outside of mental health services alone.
The appointed consultant will liaise closely with the Single Point of Access (SPA) and the Primary Care Mental Health Service to facilitate smooth transitions with secondary care.
