This NHS Trust is the first NHS Trust on the English mainland to provide community, mental health and acute hospital services. It was formed from the merger of two trusts on the 1st April 2020. Now, they are preparing to merge with another trust so that they are better able to support the health of all the people in the area.

What is the Oncology Department like?
The Oncology Department provides Clinical and Medical Oncology inpatient and outpatient services as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy to all common tumour sites. The new appointee will be joining an ambitious team of 12 Consultant Oncologists (8 Clinical & 4 Medical), 1 Associate Specialist (Medical Oncology), 3 Speciality Doctors, and a rotation of junior doctors who cover the inpatient ward. There are also two Clinical Oncology ST3 doctors. It is a research orientated department with a dedicated clinical trials team and are one of the highest recruiters within the South West and nationally for a number of trials.
The new consultant will be working within the Cancer Centre which provides cancer care to a population of approximately 500,000. It has received a number of accolades since opening in 2009 for the high quality care delivered. These include CHKS ISO 9001 accreditation, Macmillan Quality Environment Mark score of 5 (out of 5) on all principles and in the 2018 National Cancer Patient Experience Survey, the Beacon Centre was ranked third overall which is an excellent reflection of the patient centred care delivered.

There is real opportunity to progress through CESR at pace at this trust, with a strong desire for newly-qualified consultants to develop their specialty areas of interest and undertake in various cancer trials and research projects where possible. THE ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND TEAM:
The department is responsible for SACT services for adults with solid tumours in the region of Wales. The majority (60%) of day-case services are delivered on site, while there is a long-established network of outreach sites in LHB acute and community hospitals, and based with 3rd-sector providers.
Based on its professional and public reputation for delivering excellence in terms of patient and staff experience, the Trust has has been selected to lead the ‘Transforming Cancer Services’ programme and to build a new hospital. The new site will be a £200million pound development and will open in the coming years. It will be nearly twice the size of the current hospital and will be equipped with brand new, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities
The new site will have 10 new linear accelerators, 2 CT and 2 MRI scanners to support precision image-guided and adaptive radiotherapy. There will be a dedicated clinical trials treatment unit including a 10-bedded early phase trials unit, and 2 isotope cubicles for molecular radiotherapy treatments.

The team is made up of learning disability nurses, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and psychologists. They deliver a specialist assessment and intervention plan, which focuses on health inequalities, behaviour, risk, sensory, communication and psychological needs. They work in partnership with families and agencies to achieve positive outcomes for the patients in their home, community and other relevant settings.
The Team accepts referrals from service users, carers, social workers, GP\'s and other health professionals. All referrals will go through a screening process which checks whether you are eligible to access the service. In previous years, their colleagues have picked them as winners of the Principles of Care Awards, for their work with Down\'s Syndrome and dementia patients. The population is around 191,830 (ONS Data). The Mental Health Team provides a service to the towns within the area. The post holder will provide clinical leadership within the Community Mental Health Team alongside two Consultant colleagues. The Team comprises: 1.0 wte Band 8b Service Manager, 3.0 wte Band 7 Operational Team Leaders, 1.0 wte Band 7 Lead Nurse, 18.27 wte Band 6 Community Mental Health Practitioners, 2.0 wte Band 5 Community Mental Health Practitioners, 1.0 wte Band 7 Occupational Therapists, 1.0 wte Band 5 Occupational Therapist, 1.0 wte Band 3 Occupational Therapist Assistant, and 6.2 wte Band 3 Support Time & Recovery Workers. The team also works in conjunction with 3.0 wte Band 7 Primary Care Mental Health Workers. The medical input is provided by 3 Consultant Psychiatrists and 3 Speciality Doctors.
At present the team receives 200-250 referrals a month. The case load of the Community Mental Health Team is approximately 1000 patients the majority of whom are allocated to healthcare professionals/care coordinators. The post holder will be expected to take an active leadership role in screening of referrals as well as assessment of new referrals jointly with other team members. The post holder will attend Trust meetings including Strategic Development Meetings, Clinical Governance Meetings within the Service Line and other meetings as requested.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership within the Community Mental Health Team alongside one Consultant colleague. Total population served by the Team is 130,00 with the 19-64 population being 75,120.

The Community Mental Health Team provides a service to the adult population (18-65 years) in the town, and whose GP practice is in the nearby areas. The team provides a service to a mixed urban and rural population. Around 260,000 people live in the area covered by ICP. The Mental Illness Needs Index (MINI) is 0.885 and the MINI adjusted population of 17 and over is 182,000. The community mental health team service in the department is a Multidisciplinary team providing services for adults of working age group diagnosed with mental health disorders.
The teams consist of 3 full time consultants, each consultant providing care for each of the 3 localities. At present the team receives approximately 200 referrals a month. The case load of the Community Mental Health Team is currently 1130 patients. The majority of whom are allocated to care coordinators. The team also benefits from the support offered by psychologists and psychotherapists from Secondary Care Psychological Services (SCPTS).

The department is transforming their children and young people’s mental health services across Greater Manchester and looking for people to join their fantastic team. The service is a 12 bedded unit, and helps children and young people up to the age of 16 years, and provide assessments, intervention and support to their families/carers. The CAMHS inpatient services operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and accept emergency, planned and out of hours admissions. The CAMHS Inpatient services also provides Tier 4 consultation, and advice to other professionals and the successful candidate will take a lead in providing their clinical expertise. The also provide consultation, advice and training to other agencies and accept referrals from a wide range of professionals.
The post holder is expected to take clinical responsibility for all 12 young people who are inpatient on the unit, & manage a caseload of clients who are receiving direct high intensity input.
