The service participates in multidisciplinary team meetings. The Trust has a dedicated Acute Oncology Service led by one of the Medical Oncologists, with support from senior Clinical Nurse Specialists. In addition, there is a shared Oncology and Haematology ward with 20+ beds. Inpatient care for oncology patients is managed by the appropriate medical or surgical teams, with regular input from the Acute Oncology and specialist oncology teams.
The post holder will share clinical and managerial leadership within the Oncology department with the present consultants. The post holder will be provided with a designated office base with full secretarial and administrative support. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Team is a small cohesive community based multi-disciplinary team. They provide Early Intervention Service for the 13 to 18-year-old as well as assessment and treatment of young people presenting with high risk and severe life threatening self-harm. The Adolescent Mental Health Team is composed of a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (joint consultant team-leads, this post and higher trainee), Systemic Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy and Mental Health Nursing.
The team model includes joint working between Psychiatry and allocated care-coordinator as well as individual working with young people and their families to provide developmentally informed evidence-based treatments. The Team offers neurodevelopmental assessments including ADHD, learning disability and Autism. Also to offer psycho-education and feedback to patients and their carers; and commence and/or monitor appropriate medication under supervision.
The post holder will provide assessments and treatment of young people presenting with severe and enduring mental health difficulties as part of a multi-disciplinary team assessment. The successful candidate will provide appropriate medical monitoring, psychiatric and therapeutic follow-up and treatment of a case load of young people under supervision of the Consultant. The post is within the tier 3 CAMHS team, which provided generic & outpatient CAMHS. The post holder will be involved in assessing, diagnosing and treating children and young people presenting with a range of mental health difficulties up to the age of 18 years.
