They are provide a comprehensive vascular access service and support the efficient delivery of both elective and emergency anaesthesia as well as significantly enhancing the ability to provide high quality training.

It provides Acute, Primary, Community, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities services via General and Community Hospitals, Health Centres, GP's, Dentists, Pharmacists and Optometrists and other sites. WHAT IS THE DEPARTMENT & TEAM LIKE?
The integrated department of medicine provides inpatient, outpatient and occasional domiciliary consultation services for medical patients of all ages. In-patient and rehabilitation facilities are provided at the main hospital site. There are many acute beds provided for the directorate including a dedicated purpose built 6-bedded coronary care unit and 24 bedded Clinical Decisions Unit. There is also a combined HDU/ITU with a total of 14 beds.
The department is supported by full pathology and radiology services. In addition, the department of physiological medicine carries out electrocardiography, echocardiography, stress testing, Holter monitoring and lung function testing. The biochemistry department works closely with the diabetes department. Physicians with an interest in Elderly Medicine provide a comprehensive service for the elderly in addition to contributing to the acute medical service for all adult age groups.
